Salary: Competitive starting salary range from £23,877 up to £25,273 pro rate, per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

Permanent Part Time: (Saturdays only) - Working hours part-time 7.5 hours - Saturday 08:00 - 16:30

The Role

The University Library is seeking to appoint a part-time library assistant to join our customer services weekend team. The post holder will contribute to the effective operation of the Library by providing services to the Library customers and supporting their study at the University. You will provide a welcoming Reception service as well as ensuring the library policies on noise and behaviour are maintained, shelving library materials, operating the online issue system and general clerical tasks.

Our Successful Candidate

You should have a good general education and the ability to work as part of a team is really important. Good communication and interpersonal skills, confidence with IT and the ability to work under pressure are also essential for this post. You should also have experience of customer service or dealing with the general public. Experience of working in a library would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

In addition to the weekly hours of this post, you are also required to work 4 additional days per annum (totalling 30 hours, averaged to 0.58 hours per week). These additional days will be four of the following: three days between Christmas and New Year, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Spring bank holiday (May), Whitsun bank holiday (May) and August bank holiday. These days will vary depending on rotas.
