Job summary

Join our well established Liaison Psychiatry team, who are diligent in creating effective care plans and comprehensive clinical strategies focused on delivering exceptional care for people with acute mental health needs.

We welcome applications from highly motivated and experienced senior psychiatry practitioners who are capable of building and supporting teams of practitioners with effective decision making and communication skills. The ability to facilitate timely interventions and provide specialist assessment that will enhance the best outcome and recovery for adults (18 years+) is vital in this role.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced/registered mental health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with post‑registration experience of working in mental health. You must have completed practice supervision, be educated to degree level and have or be working towards a level 7 Masters qualification.

Responsibilities
  • Accept referrals of patients aged 18 years and over for assessment, treatment and coordination with other relevant services.
  • Work in collaboration with all members of the Liaison Psychiatry Service and involved agencies.
  • Maintain a clinical caseload of patients with co‑morbid physical and mental illness.
  • Provide specialist clinical input, liaison, consultancy and education to colleagues.
  • Develop and provide evidence‑based treatment plans for identified patients, in collaboration with the patient and referrer.
  • Formulate, implement and evaluate treatment programmes.
  • Promote the well‑being and mental health of people, by providing relevant information and advice to them, their families and supporting agencies.
  • Provide advice and support on clinical management and assessment of risk.
  • Provide advice on the management of patients subject to the MHA and MCA.
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Person specification
  • Qualifications and training (essential): Qualified Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist and/or relevant clinical qualification.
  • Post‑registration therapy qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Educated or working towards a Masters degree level via specialist modules.
  • Desirable: Occupational Therapist with post‑registration experience of working in mental health; undertaken practice supervision.
  • Experience (essential): Previous experience at senior nurse level (Band 6 or above). Working individually with people using a CBT or similar therapeutic approach. Working in the community with people with mental health problems.
  • Knowledge and skills (essential): Sound knowledge of mental health problems, especially the impact of physical and mental illness on well‑being. Ability to develop and provide training packages. Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Additional requirement (essential): Ability to travel to different sites across the Trust in a timely manner. Computer literate.
