Overview

Are you enthusiastic and just good at getting things done? An exciting opportunity has become available for an interesting and varied role. You will be working as part of a small team looking after the council's parks, trees and play areas. Every day is different - this isn't a desk-bound job; you will spend the majority of your time out in the district being proactive and resolving issues. This customer-focused and varied role provides a great career opportunity if you are starting out or looking for a change in career. Previous experience working in a monitoring or investigative role would be an advantage. However, this is not essential as training will be given for the right candidates.

What will you be doing?
  • Proactively investigating enquiries and complaints
  • An interest in improving the local environment
  • Investigating breaches of environmental legislation, such as dog fouling, littering and abandoned vehicles
  • Planning, coordinating and undertaking inspections and monitoring of leisure centres and parks
  • Overseeing a range of contracts including grounds maintenance, weed control, tree risk inspection, stray dogs and conservation grazing
  • Overseeing open space improvement projects from inception through procurement to delivery
About you

As an ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Capability to explain standards, policies and procedures
  • An inquisitive and persuasive manner with good attention to detail
  • A high level of organisational skills
  • A full driving licence
  • IT skills - including Microsoft Word to create letters and reports

You will be giving advice to residents and businesses on issues relating to litter, dog fouling, trees, play and the environment.

You will be working with community groups and other partners to improve the quality of the environment in our streets and open spaces.
