Job description

Peterborough College is seeking a motivated and passionate Lecturer in Public Services to join our Uniformed Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with industry experience and a passion for teaching to support learners from Entry Level through to Higher Education, helping them develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to progress into employment or further study within the public services sector. The role As a Lecturer in Public Services, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across a range of programmes. You will plan and deliver engaging sessions, assess learner progress, and provide meaningful feedback that motivates and challenges students to achieve their full potential. You will also contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance processes, learner support, and student recruitment activities, working collaboratively within the faculty to ensure excellent outcomes for all learners.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering inspiring lessons using a range of teaching methods, including blended and technology‑enhanced learning
  • Developing schemes of work, lesson plans and learning resources (including online materials)
  • Assessing learner work and providing constructive, timely feedback
  • Setting and monitoring SMART targets and implementing interventions where required
  • Supporting learners’ academic progress, personal development and progression
  • Maintaining accurate records of learner achievement, attendance and progress
  • Contributing to course reviews, internal verification and quality assurance activities
  • Participating in induction, tutorials, examinations and student recruitment events
  • Embedding English, Maths, employability and work experience into teaching
  • Promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding at all times

Qualifications
  • A minimum Level 3/4 qualification or above in a relevant Public Services subject area
  • Industry or commercial experience within the public services sector
  • A teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • A learner‑centred approach with the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Strong organisational, communication and time‑management skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive practice
  • Teaching experience and assessor/internal verifier qualifications are desirable but not essential.
