The Role

As an English Lecturer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality teaching that engages, challenges and supports learners from Entry Level to Level 2/3. You’ll contribute to the ongoing development of our curriculum, working collaboratively within a supportive department focused on continuous improvement and innovation.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, well‑structured lessons, including schemes of work
  • Designing and implementing learner‑centred assessment with clear, developmental feedback
  • Monitoring and supporting learner attendance, progress and achievement
  • Providing personal coaching and pastoral support to designated learners
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment, ensuring health and safety standards are met
  • Keeping your subject knowledge current to ensure teaching remains relevant and employability‑focused
  • Actively engaging in professional development and quality improvement activity
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated educator who is passionate about English and learner progression. You’ll ideally have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Recent, successful experience teaching Functional Skills and/or English from Entry Level to Level 2/3, preferably in Further Education
  • A strong track record of effective assessment and learner achievement
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to support colleagues and contribute to shared goals
  • Strong administrative skills, including accurate tracking of learner data

In addition, you’ll have:

  • A learner‑focused approach with strong communication skills
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • A commitment to equality, safeguarding and inclusive practice
