We have a flourishing academic culture in Law, centred around our BU Law Community and the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM). We are recognised as a global leader in Intellectual Property scholarship, and in Human Rights and Missing Person research where Professor Klinkner has attracted £1.6 million in funding from the European Research Council (ERC) to develop a comprehensive human rights framework around mass graves (MagPIE project). We have excellent support for research at all levels of the University with a research ecology focused on mentorship and support. Your research will either be in an area of our current provision or in an emergent area of Law. You will demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver proposals and applications / bids for external funding. In addition, the post holder will be involved in the development of research groupings to build our research culture and environment.

We work in partnership with our students to co‑create research and foster their ambitions. Our Law undergraduate programmes include a range of degrees:

  • LLB Law
  • LLB Law with Legal Practice
  • Law with Politics
  • Law, Media and Creative industries

We also deliver successful postgraduate academic and professional courses. We have a framework of LLMs, with a variety of specialisms including:

  • Public International Law
  • International Commercial Law
  • Intellectual Property Law
  • Recently revalidated LLM in Legal Practice
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a key role at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The post holder will develop innovative learning experiences for students in online, blended and face‑to‑face delivery. The post holder will:

  • Teach flexibly across Foundation Subjects.
  • Develop and deliver learning activities for Corporate Law and Governance and Business Law and Practice.
  • Engage students in research and foster their academic ambitions.
Qualifications

You will have a Doctorate in Law, or a Masters equivalent with the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level, or you will have the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3‑5 years from date of appointment.

This position will not typically meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s regulations, unless exceptional circumstances apply, e.g. meeting the ‘new entrant’ criteria.
