Job Description Leeds School of Arts is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced photography practitioner to join our creative community as a Learning Support Specialist.

This role supports an open-access resource serving undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as staff, across a wide range of disciplines including Architecture, Product Design, Graphics, Fashion, Fine Art, and more.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

You’ll be actively involved in supporting students and staff in the use and techniques of photographic equipment, offering guidance on camera operation, lighting setups, and creative approaches. You’ll manage the booking and circulation of equipment, ensure the maintenance and safe operation of darkrooms and associated facilities, and assist users with digital editing workflows using industry-standard software. Your role will be hands-on, responsive, and central to the smooth running of our photography resources.

What You’ll Bring
  • Expertise in Cameras Extenstive experience with both digital and traditional film cameras, from 35mm to medium format, enabling users to explore a full spectrum of photographic practices.
  • Studio & Location Lighting In-depth knowledge of studio lighting setups and equipment, supporting diverse users in projects ranging from still life to high-energy fashion shoots, both in the studio and on location.
  • Darkroom Mastery Practical skills in black & white wet film processing and traditional darkroom printing, including the creation of photograms.
  • Digital Workflow Proficiency Strong working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, helping users refine and elevate their digital photography work.
Ideal Candidate

You are a practitioner with significant industry and educational experience, capable of inspiring and guiding others through hands-on support, technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit.
