Are you passionate about supporting students to succeed? Do you have experience leading a team and making a positive impact in education?

We are looking for a Learning Support Officer to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team and play a vital role in coordinating learning support provision across the college. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with a wide range of support needs.

About The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Additional Learning Support Manager, you will:

  • Lead and supervise a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Communication Support Workers across various curriculum areas.
  • Coordinate timetables and support allocation in line with student needs and audit requirements.
  • Ensure high-quality provision through mentoring, observations, first-stage absence management, and performance reviews.
  • Support students directly, including those with learning difficulties, disabilities, or other barriers to learning.
  • Promote the ALS service and act as a first point of contact for curriculum teams.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective deployment of staff and resources.
  • Contribute to wider responsibilities such as exam access arrangements, documentation compliance, and service development.

This is a highly collaborative role where your leadership, organisation, and student-centred approach will help maintain and develop an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Educated to at least Level 3, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade A-C).
  • Experienced in working with learners who have additional needs or disabilities.
  • Confident in supervising and supporting a team.
  • Highly organised, with excellent communication and administration skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and able to work across multiple campuses or sites.

A Level 3 qualification in Learning Support or a related field is desirable, as is a Level 3 Management or Supervisory qualification—or a willingness to work towards one.
