Learning Support Assistant (Senior School)

Yateley Manor School is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our support staff team. This full‑time, term‑time only position (Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑16:15) involves working with senior school pupils aged 11‑16, supporting them with additional needs.

We are a leading co‑educational independent school in Yateley, North Hampshire. Our school thrives on academic excellence and a focus on building confidence for the future. Key Responsibilities

You will support pupils with additional needs, deliver lesson and learning activities, contribute to GCSE study support in maths and science, and manage behaviour in the classroom. You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEND) in a secondary school setting
  • Further qualifications in Special Educational Needs (e.g. Level 4 teaching assistant qualification)
  • Proven experience working in a classroom or educational setting
  • Ability to support pupils in their GCSE studies of maths and science
  • Experience planning and delivering lessons or learning activities
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Can act as a role model for students both in the classroom and around school
  • Training in aspects of SEND, such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, or experience supporting pupils with those needs
  • Experience delivering 1:1 or small‑group booster sessions in literacy and numeracy (looked upon favourably)
  • Experience working with children with EAL
  • Experience with gifted and talented children
