Job summary

An education agency is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a primary school in Smethwick. The role involves working 29 hours a week, supporting children with special educational needs in the classroom. Ideal candidates will have an NVQ level 2 qualification and experience working with children. This position starts as soon as possible and follows a term-time schedule with training days.

Overview

Salary: Band B scale point 3-4 £24,027 - £24,404 per annum pro rata (pro rata actual salary £16,586 - £16,846). Hours: 29 hours per week. 5 days Mon - Fri. Term time only plus 2 training days. Required: As soon as possible.

Aspire People are recruiting for a Primary school based in Smethwick. Learning Support Assistant to work 29 hours per week with children with special educational needs initially in the infants. Inclusion is at the heart of all we do and you will work within a supportive and dedicated team to provide children with the best start.

Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted support, within groups and within the classroom environment.
  • Deliver small group provision and personalised learning to children with additional needs including personal care.
  • Initially work within Early Years and KS1.
  • Take lunchtime responsibility to model good communication and social skills with peers.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of NVQ level 2 relevant qualification.
  • Experience of working with children across the Primary school age range.
  • Ability to use initiative to create resources and direct learning as necessary, e.g. provide visual aids, appropriate materials, or individualised learning approaches to move a child’s learning forward.
  • Understanding and experience of working with children with special educational needs in the Primary age range.
