Job description

Since June 2025, the Academy's role has expanded to support not only social care teams but all in‑house services, including reablement. Our services are CQC‑regulated and some are currently rated "Requires Improvement," so this role is critical in helping us raise standards.

You will work closely with our Career Development Lead and will involve a wide range of responsibilities, including providing intensive training, supporting workforce development, and creating good practice guides for in‑house services, with a particular focus on supported living services.

A key aspect of the role is empowering these services to meet Care Certificate standards and fulfil mandatory training requirements. You will also contribute to our learning needs analysis, deliver targeted and consistent training, and offer expert advice to partners and stakeholders.

In addition, you will play an important part in developing sustainable specialist programmes, such as the Care Certificate and Admiral Nursing project, while using insights to help shape future learning initiatives. You will co‑produce and deliver training sessions, workshops, and reflective practice sessions directly to registered services.

Managing and commissioning external training providers will also be part of your remit, ensuring that all training offers meet quality assurance standards. Collaboration is central to this role, as you will work closely with internal and external partners to create a diverse and accessible learning offer, utilising various delivery methods and technology.

Finally, you will promote and support the use of our Learning Management System across the directorate, ensuring it becomes an integral part of our approach to learning and development. This role is key to driving practice improvements, consistent standards, and reflective practice across the AWHP directorate in‑house and registered services.

Our role will transfer with current terms and conditions to one of the new councils, supporting local devolution and greater powers for our communities. Join our dynamic team and shape the future of local government. Make a lasting impact with innovative solutions and improved services for our community. Help us build a brighter future for our residents!
