A leading UK technology company specialising in advanced imaging and high-performance electronics is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to take ownership of complex, high-speed hardware designs.

This is a hands‑on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys working on technically challenging products and seeing designs through from concept to production.

The Role

You will lead the development of FPGA-centric, high-speed electronic systems used in specialist imaging and industrial applications. Working closely with firmware, systems, and manufacturing teams, you will deliver robust, production‑ready hardware.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading complex hardware design projects from concept to production
  • Designing high‑speed digital schematics (up to 50 Gbps)
  • Defining system and subsystem architectures
  • Chairing formal design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR)
  • Supporting verification, validation, and compliance
  • Evaluating and introducing new technologies
  • Producing clear technical documentation
About You

You will be an experienced electronics engineer with a strong background in high-speed digital design.

Essential
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 8+ years' experience in hardware/electronics design
  • Strong experience with FPGAs, processors, and power systems
  • Proven full product lifecycle experienceConfident with schematic capture (Altium preferred)
  • Strong hands‑on testing and debugging skills
Desirable
  • Imaging systems experience
  • DDR, PCIe Gen4+, SERDES, MIPI, LVDS
  • High‑speed PCB and EMI/EMC knowledge
  • JTAG / XJTAG
  • Experience in regulated industries
