Job Description:

Landing Gear ATA32 Engineer – Airbus Filton

Overview:

An exciting opportunity for a Landing Gear ATA32 Engineer has arisen in Airbus Filton focusing on DMU & Installation for Landing Gears across all programmes. The position is within the Installation Team (1YLXI), responsible for supporting installation of Landing Gear Structure, Hydro-mechanical and Systems equipment from delivery and throughout the product life In‑Service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring all activities comply with relevant design and installation policies, meeting safety and technical needs with robust adherence to system processes.
  • Creating and updating the interface and installation definition between the landing gears and airframe, and between the landing gears and equipment.
  • Interfacing with specialists and technical signatories to ensure compliance to certification requirements and methodology (quality checks, clearance studies using Catia kinematic models, authoring results and obtaining approval).
  • Ensuring adherence to budget and schedule for each activity; managing and mitigating risks/opportunities and communicating timely to stakeholders and customers.
  • Working with sub‑contracting firms providing support to the internal resource within IYL.
Expected Outcomes:
  • All engineering activities under your leadership meet Safety, Time/Cost/Quality standards and are delivered in line with commitments.
  • Manage a variety of tasks against a priority order, as agreed with the Senior Engineers.
  • Develop and coordinate installation inputs to In‑Service, FAL and Flight Test tasks.
  • Progress towards technical signatory.
  • Support offloading of activities to suppliers.
Skills & Experience:
  • Successful leadership of engineering tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively within local and transnational teams, and with customers and suppliers.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and proactive team working with willingness to exercise technical leadership.
  • Strong background in Engineering.
  • Background in DMU and/or Installation – Catia V5 experience and toolset access (PASS, VPM) beneficial but not essential.
Additional Information:

The role is graded AP but offers development opportunities for those in lower grades. Requires awareness of compliance risks and commitment to integrity.
