Job summary

A leading defence organisation is seeking a talented individual for the role of Lead Product Development for Land Ceptor. This position will focus on the future product development and evolution of Land Ceptor to meet changing customer needs. The successful candidate will manage a variety of tasks, develop roadmaps, and support contract bids. The role allows for hybrid working, with strong growth potential as business needs evolve. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and willing to lead a team if necessary.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing Physical Architectures and concept designs.
  • Ability to challenge existing design and manufacturing assumptions.
  • Experience with land systems or heavy-duty machinery.
  • Experience with prototype or demonstrator development.
  • Leadership experience across different functions.

Responsibilities

Salary

Circa £50,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working

2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance

British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity

Within the Land Ceptor Physical Domain team you will be the focal point and responsible for future product development to ensure that Land Ceptor maintains its relevance and continues to meet the changing needs of customers, both UK and Export.

Reporting to Head of Equipment; Product Line (Land Ceptor) you will act as the Lead on Land Ceptor Physical Product Development, to take the existing physical design solution and determine how best to evolve it to meet existing and potential future customers' requirements in the medium (2-4 years) and long terms.

Typical activities will include:
  • Development of roadmaps of the core Physical Architecture and sub-system products
  • Task Package management of programmes to take future customer requirements through from Develop Concept phase through to Demonstration of a qualified product ready for introduction into manufacture.
  • Support to bids for future Land Ceptor based contracts
  • Maintain awareness of future MRAD requirements with existing and new customers
  • Attendance at Future Business meetings
  • Liaise with TMO to develop future opportunities.

This role offers growth potential as UK and export requirements come to fruition and the team continues to grow, with there being an opportunity to manage a small team.

  • A highly motivated self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team whilst managing the priorities of a number of varied tasks.
  • Organised and methodical in approach.
  • Able to form strong working relationships across a wide number of stakeholders.
Ideally you will have experience in
  • Developing Physical Architectures and concept designs to meet challenging customer requirements
