Job description

Experienced Joint Venture Accountant required to join a forward-thinking energy company operating at the forefront of the oil and gas industry. Initially available on a temporary basis this could lead to a permanent position.

In this role, you will work at the heart of joint venture operations ensuring all transactions are accurate, compliant with Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs) and SOAPs, and tightly controlled through rigorous audits. You’ll collaborate closely with operational, technical, and commercial teams across partner companies, delivering clear financial insights that safeguard and optimise our ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing all JV financial procedures ensuring compliance with industry-standard SOAPs and JOAs.
  • Administering JV budgets, forecasts, and approvals, providing detailed variance analysis and commentary.
  • Reviewing and reconciling JV billing, invoices, accruals, cash balances, and general ledger postings.
  • Liaising with internal teams and partner companies to identify financial risks, streamline processes, and support operational decisions.
  • Coordinating and participating in JV and corporate audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit queries.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and standardisation of JV accounting processes.
  • Preparing sales and recharge invoices, manage real estate accounting processes including tenant invoicing.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs) within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of upstream oil and gas business operations.
  • Experience with SAP and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
