Job description
Title: Assistant Vice President, Issuer Services (Japanese speaker)

Status: Permanent

Salary: £65,000 basic

Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 days WFH

Location: The City, London

An international financial organisation is looking for a Japanese-speaking Assistant Vice President, Issuer Services.

Responsibilities

The main roles and responsibilities of the department and this role are:

  • Common Depository – Administration and Safekeeping of the Global Bonds.
  • Timely processing of Interest Letters and Payments.
  • Timely processing of New Issue Closing process.
  • Producing periodical reporting as required and within agreed timelines.
  • Vault maintenance.
  • Compiling evidence when requested by the SI team.
  • Bond Agency – cross-training and assisting with new issue/programme and transaction management for EuroBond issues, liaising with external parties including the issuer, lead managers, lawyers, and ICSDs.
  • Principal Paying Agent – ensuring safe settlement of funds.
  • Calculation Agent – calculating interest rates for FRN bonds.
  • Issuing Agent – liaising with Euroclear and external dealers to set up ISINs for new bonds.
  • Taxation Agent – ensuring correct amounts are submitted to Tax Office on behalf of the Issuers.
  • Conversion Agent – instructing the execution of conversions and exchanges to the local CSDs.
  • Programme management and SPV issuance programmes – daily administration of the issuance of own notes, including Calculation Agent, Corporate Action events, and safe settlement of funds to the PPA and RM for external stakeholders.
  • Strict adherence to CASS, ensuring all CASS-related procedures are documented and up-to-date.
  • Supervisory duties include:
    • Supervising team members and conducting 1-2-1s with the team line manager.
    • Coordinating query management for the team, ensuring all queries are responded to in a timely manner.
    • Diary management (TMS).
    • Payment checking and releasing.
Requirements
  • Japanese speaker
  • Previous experience in an Issuer Services/Bond Agency role
  • Experience handling, analyzing, interpreting a wide variety of data and processing it accurately and timely
  • Strong MS Excel skills (experience using VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and Graphs)
  • Degree or equivalent preferred
  • The ability to operate with urgency and prioritize work accordingly
  • A calm approach, with the ability to perform well in a pressured environment
  • Strong numerical skills
