Job description

As an entry-level IT technician, you will join a team of IT professionals supporting Reynolds UK operations with data centre, desktop, server, and network support. This role involves collaboration with US and European IT teams and offers opportunities to learn alongside experienced professionals, managing equipment such as desktops, servers, and networking devices. You will be assigned projects to research and manage as you progress. The position begins as a trainee system operator in our Birmingham UK data centre, working rotating shifts including evenings, nights, and days. It provides training in data centre systems and procedures, with potential progression into roles covering desktop support, server management, and networking. Training will be delivered through on-the-job, online, and cross-team methods. The role is based in our Birmingham office.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Data Centre Operations supervisor
  • Monitor data centre infrastructure including cooling, power, servers, and network devices
  • Ensure backups of critical data are taken and securely stored
  • Maintain the data centre environment
  • Provide out-of-hours support
  • Monitor site security via CCTV
  • Patch cabling and manage equipment moves
