Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT ServiceDesk.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all problems encountered with hardware and software.
  • Escalate requests to the appropriate party, as needed.
  • Replace or repair defective equipment or components.
  • Provide on-site desktop/laptop support including new hardware setup, imaging, and deployment.
  • Provide minor telecom system support including mobile devices, voicemail, and user programming.
  • Help maintain inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses.
  • Ensure new starters have the right computer system, workplace setup and access needed to do their work.
  • Conduct IT training for new users.
  • Aid the leaver process, specifically ensuring company equipment is identified and returned.

About The Role

Join TRUMPF Laser UK Limited at a time of rapid innovation and growth. This hands‑on role supports the rollout of key new products, providing 1st and 2nd line service desk support, resolving technical issues, and maintaining systems under guidance from senior team members.

Training to be provided

Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 22‑month apprenticeship which includes 25 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6‑8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.

About the role

The IT Support Technician Apprentice will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT ServiceDesk
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all problems encountered with hardware and software

  • Conduct IT training for new users, explain process for getting support, basic computer functions, how to find information, etc.
  • Aid the leaver process, specifically ensuring company equipment is identified and returned
