My client, a large public sector organisation, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to deliver high-quality 2nd & 3rd line support across a wide and complex IT estate, this role being onsite in East Sussex.This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in domain migrations and infrastructure projects while ensuring critical services remain stable, secure, and reliable.
Your Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd & 3rd line technical support for network, server, and infrastructure services.
- Support the planning, execution, and post-migration support of complex domain migrations (including Active Directory and related technologies).
- Configure, install, repair, and maintain high-value IT equipment to maximise availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during and after migration activities, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Work with third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and processes to support compliance and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to infrastructure improvement projects, recommending and implementing changes in line with best practice and organisational objectives.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers when required, sharing specialist knowledge and technical expertise.
Essential Requirements
- Proven 2nd & 3rd line infrastructure support experience in a large-scale environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and domain migrations.
- Solid understanding of network architecture, including LAN/WAN and enterprise wireless infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with VMware and Windows Server environments.
- Ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues independently.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Flexibility to work onsite across multiple sites within East Sussex.
Desirable:
- Experience working within the public sector or healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of call logging systems and working to SLAs.
- Familiarity with thin client technologies and Windows OS upgrades.
What’s on Offer
- Day Rate: £220 p/d via Umbrella (Inside IR35).
- Contract: 6 months with potential for extension.
- Working Pattern: Full-time, onsite, 37.5 hours per week.
