Overview

Electrical & Controls Technician – Mars Petcare, Melton Mowbray, Nottingham

Shift pattern: 12‑hour days and nights (7 am‑7 pm / 7 pm‑7 am, 4 days off).

Salary: £51,900‑£56,000 (including shift allowances, DOE) + performance bonus. Benefits include private healthcare, parental leave, pension up to 9 %, life assurance (4× salary) and EV salary sacrifice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, test and modify automated and electromechanical equipment.
  • Apply engineering principles to resolve production issues and enhance efficiency.
  • Develop, track and communicate maintenance metrics to reduce recurring equipment issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen).
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on major breakdowns.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and calibrate precision instrumentation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in practical electrical engineering; knowledge of BS7671.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated or electromechanical machinery.
  • Understanding of precision instrumentation, repair and calibration.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, curiosity and drive to improve processes.
  • Ability to adapt to various power supplies and control systems.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, robotics or process engineering welcomed.
