Qualifications

We are seeking confident and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join our partner primary schools near Taunton. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced educators ready to lead lessons, support learning across KS1–KS2, and take on wider responsibilities that contribute to pupil progress.

The Role – HLTA (Primary)

As a HLTA, you will step into a lead role when needed—delivering pre-planned lessons, supporting groups of pupils, and collaborating with class teachers to reinforce pupil learning. You’ll work across Key Stage 1 and 2, delivering lessons and maintaining the school’s high standards for education and care.

Responsibilities include:
  • Delivering pre-set lessons across KS1 and KS2 in teacher absence
  • Supporting pupils’ academic and social development through small group work
  • Assisting with planning, classroom prep, and tailored pupil support
  • Providing behaviour and learning support, particularly for pupils with SENDGiving feedback to teachers and assisting with assessment and reporting
Role Requirements – Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have at least 6 months’ experience working with children in an educational setting
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
  • Be eligible to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
  • Show excellent communication, flexibility, and professionalism
  • Hold a Level 4 TA qualification or degree in a relevant field (desirable)
  • Be confident working independently and supporting pupils with SEN/SEMH
