A new opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced Employment Lawyer to join our Legal Team based in London.

What you’ll do

As part of a global Legal, Compliance & Risk team, you will report into the Associate General Counsel based in Southfield, Michigan, who has responsibility for litigation and employment matters globally.

This is a great opportunity to face technical challenges in an interesting position and develop your knowledge and commercial acumen. You’ll be supported by the Associate General Counsel, business leaders, mentors, coaches, and colleagues on the Legal, Compliance & Risk team to ensure you are learning and developing.

  2. Advising on senior executive recruitment and exits, including advising on strategy, instructing and managing external counsel, and negotiating and drafting contracts

  4. Instructing, supervising and analysing the advice provided by external counsel in the EMEA jurisdictions, primarily Germany
  5. Supporting the People team in developing strategies and policies to ensure and maintain compliance with employment-related laws and regulations
  6. Supporting the business with transactions and advising on TUPE (and equivalent) legislation throughout Europe
  7. Drafting documents including employment contracts, settlement agreements, restrictive covenants, bonus plans, and HR policies
  8. Supporting colleagues in Legal, Compliance and Risk with issues relating to employment law and contingent workers.
What you’ll need
  1. Ability to give well-reasoned legal advice, including when under time pressure or in fast-moving or ambiguous circumstances
  2. Independent and autonomous working, but able to identify issues and understand when to escalate or involve other team members
  3. Self-motivation and the willingness to proactively maintain your awareness of key changes to employment law impacting Germany and wider EMEA region
  4. Organisational and prioritisation skills, including the ability to respond to business issues in a timely manner
  5. Combining sound legal advice with business acumen and judgment to provide workable, pragmatic solutions
  6. Developing strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, peers and colleagues from across the business and being a true team player
  7. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  8. At least 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience* as a UK or Germany based employment lawyer, of which at least 1 year was spent in-house (role is based in London)
  9. Knowledge and experience of other legal systems in Germany and EMEA generally
  10. Willingness to learn about any jurisdictions in which you do not already have knowledge or experience
