Job summary

A renewable energy EPC is seeking an experienced HV Engineer to join the engineering team in the UK. This role involves overseeing high-voltage design activities and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure safe system integration. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering and experience with HV works in large-scale energy projects. Strong communication and IT skills are essential for this position.

HV Engineer – Solar, Microgrids & Heat Networks – UK Wide

We’re supporting a rapidly growing renewable energy EPC as they scale up delivery of new solar farms, microgrid systems and district heating networks across the UK.

They’re now looking for an experienced HV Engineer to join their engineering team, supporting high‑voltage system design, network integration and on‑site delivery across multiple new‑build projects.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing high‑voltage design activities, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, project specifications and contractual obligations
  • Reviewing Employer's Requirements and technical documentation to support robust HV system design decisions
  • Coordinating with DNOs, substations, SCADA teams, PPC suppliers and other key interfaces to ensure safe and compliant system integration
  • Supporting procurement activities by reviewing technical solutions, cable specifications, switchgear selections and related HV equipment packages
  • Developing detailed HV engineering documentation including cable schedules, protection settings, single line diagrams, interface registers and commissioning documentation
  • Providing on‑site HV expertise during installation, testing, energisation and commissioning phases
  • Ensuring all HV works meet UK regulations, industry standards and project‑specific compliance requirements
  • Supporting safe systems of work, operational readiness and technical assurance from design through to handover
Qualifications
  • Background in Electrical Engineering (degree or diploma preferred)
  • Strong understanding of HV systems, protection, switchgear and network architecture
  • Experience supporting or delivering HV works on solar farms, grid connections, substations or similar large‑scale energy projects
  • Confident communicator able to collaborate with DNOs, EPC teams and external partners
  • Solid IT capability, including engineering tools and MS Office (Excel in particular)
