Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile Humanities Teacher to join secondary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about History, Geography, Religious Education, and related subjects, and committed to inspiring students to explore the world, society, and culture.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are looking for long-term, permanent, or flexible teaching opportunities.

The Role:
  • Teaching Humanities subjects, including History, Geography, and Religious Education, across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5 in some schools)
  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Encouraging students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and cultural awareness
  • Assessing, monitoring, and tracking pupil progress
  • Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Collaborating with the wider Humanities department and school staff
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • A recognised degree in Humanities or a related subject
  • Strong subject knowledge across multiple Humanities disciplines
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A professional, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
