Job Description:
Your Role

You will take the lead in all aspects of the home’s operation—from building a strong staff team and establishing high standards of care, to developing innovative, child-centred approaches that prioritise mental health, emotional recovery, and positive outcomes.

This is more than a management role—it's about championing children's futures and driving real, meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Inspire: Build, support, and manage a skilled team of residential support workers. Promote a culture of kindness, resilience, and high performance.
  • Deliver Outstanding Care: Ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment that meets each child’s unique needs.
  • Compliance and Quality: Maintain full compliance with Ofsted and relevant legislation. Prepare for inspections and strive for ‘Outstanding’ ratings.
  • Innovate and Improve: Use research, reflective practice, and continuous learning to shape and adapt care practices that deliver the best outcomes.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with social workers, CAMHS, education providers, and healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care planning.
  • Champion Mental Health: Embed a therapeutic, recovery-focused model of care, supporting children with emotional and psychological needs.
  • Positive Risk-Taking: Encourage children to build confidence and resilience through supported challenges and meaningful experiences.
  • Pathway Planning: Support children in their journey toward foster care or family reunification, creating structured and sensitive transition plans.
About You
  • Experience in managing or deputising in an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home.
  • Strong understanding of trauma, attachment, and therapeutic care models.
  • Passion for supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Confident, proactive leadership style with excellent communication skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and creating a team culture of development and reflection.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
