Job summary

An established recruitment agency is seeking a Waste Segregation Officer for their Preston Depot with an immediate start. This role involves sorting waste materials efficiently into recycling and non-recycling bins while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Candidates should exhibit strong reliability and effective communication skills. You will work directly with customers, so a proactive attitude towards improving environmental cleanliness is essential. The position is in person from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 15:00.

Qualifications

Waste Segregation Officer - Preston Depot - IMMEDIATE START

Shift - Mon to Friday 08:00 to 15:00

About the role: As a Waste Segregation Officer you'll be contributing to an ever-growing established company that helps customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

What will I be doing? You will be organising our customers waste from bin bags into the correct recycling and non-recycling bin locations. You will also be on our customers site and will have to liaise with our customers if there are any issues or additional requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, sort, and dispose of waste materials in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Operate waste handling equipment safely and effectively, including compactors and balers.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of waste containers using appropriate lifting techniques.
  • Ensure all waste areas are kept clean, organised, and free from hazards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of waste storage areas to identify potential issues or safety concerns.
  • Follow health and safety protocols at all times to minimise risks associated with heavy lifting and machinery operation.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimise waste management processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Organise customers waste from bin bags into the correct recycling and non-recycling bin locations.
  • Liaise with customers on site to address any issues or additional requirements.
Qualifications
  • Reliability and good communication skills.
  • Willingness to help customers create a cleaner environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail when organising waste into recycling and non-recycling bins.
  • Experience working in the waste industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience dealing with customers face to face is desirable.
  • Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or related fields is desirable but not essential.
  • Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with waste handling equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively is required.
  • Physical fitness to undertake manual tasks throughout the shift is necessary.
  • A proactive attitude towards safety and environmental standards is highly valued.
