Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Manchester is looking for a Highly Specialist Pharmacist specialized in antimicrobials to join the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Team. This role involves delivering a high-quality clinical pharmacy antimicrobial stewardship service, supporting the local clinical pharmacy service, and building effective relationships with multidisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates should have a relevant MSc and extensive hospital pharmacy experience. Salary ranges from £55,690 to £62,682 per annum, pro rata.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist.
  • Vocational MSc in Pharmacy Post‑graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy in a clinical role.

Highly Specialist Pharmacist – Antimicrobials

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join the Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy Team (AMSPT) at North Manchester General Hospital Site of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. In this dynamic role you will collaborate with the Antimicrobial Pharmacist, multidisciplinary infection team and wider AMS clinical team to shape and deliver the Trust's patient‑centred antimicrobial stewardship agenda.

Main duties

  • Deliver a high‑quality, patient‑focused clinical pharmacy antimicrobial stewardship service.
  • Build effective relationships with clinical teams and stakeholders, promoting safe, responsible and cost‑effective prescribing of antimicrobials to optimise outcomes, reduce adverse reactions and medication errors, and limit antibiotic resistance across MFT.
  • Support the clinical pharmacy service at North Manchester General Hospital in addition to stewardship responsibilities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist
  • Vocational MSc in Pharmacy Post‑graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • One year pre‑registration training
  • Successful completion of pre‑registration examination (or equivalent)
  • Member of National / International Specialist Organisation in area of responsibility
  • Attendance at relevant conferences and training courses
Knowledge and Experience
  • Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy in a clinical role
  • Specialist hospital pharmacy services experience or experience in the area of responsibility
  • Expert clinical knowledge and skills
  • Sound clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of antimicrobial stewardship
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience in delivering training and education
  • Evidence of conducting clinical audit
  • Enthusiasm for the role
  • Understanding of national and international AMS/AMR agenda
