Qualifications

  • Local geographical knowledge is desirable for navigating the area.
  • Experience in the transport of waste is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
  • Safely collect and transport waste.
  • Assist with scheduled household collections of waste and recycling.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and correct PPE usage.

HGV Class 1 Driver

Salary: £18.82 per hour, plus Veolia benefits.

Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7 - 3.06pm, 30 minute, unpaid break daily.

You are required to work Good Friday and every Saturday following a Bank Holiday Monday

(these are known as catch up Saturdays)

What you'll be doing;
  • To undertake daily pre-use vehicle checks, reporting any defects; required routine daily maintenance, e.g. fuel, oil and water checks and fills, lights, screens and hazard sign cleaning; and, removing large items if possible which may block vehicle powered equipment, e.g. bin-lifts.
  • To ensure the vehicle is safely and properly loaded, operated and driven at all times, whilst collecting, transporting or tipping waste.
  • Reporting to the operations office at the start of your daily shift.
  • Scheduled household collections of waste / recycling, assisting the crew with collections.
  • To ensure all scheduled work is completed and compliant use of onboard devices adhered to.
  • To adhere to all policies and safety procedures.
  • To ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.
  • To carry out any other duties that may be required as directed by your line manager.
What we're looking for;
Essential:
  • Class 1 Driving Licence
  • An up-to-date CPC / DIGI card.
Desirable:
  • Local geographical knowledge is highly desirable, including experience of driving in the area.
  • Experience in transport of waste and use of walking floor trailers is desirable.
