Job Description

• Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse, providing nursing support and assisting the clinical team in the delivery of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy
• ECG recording
• New patient health checks
• Deliver injections such as B12s and seasonal flu vaccinations under Patient Specific Directives
• INR monitoring of Warfarin patients
• Chaperoning duties
• Processing and managing laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses
• Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
• Vaccine and cold‑chain storage, monitoring and recording
• Restocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines
• Clearing and restocking consulting rooms
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during minor operations
• Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well‑being
• Undertaking specific clinical activities delegated to named patients
• Helping to raise awareness of health and well‑being and how it can be promoted
• Assisting with the collection and collation of data on health and well‑being needs

• NVQ Level 3.
• Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children training.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Experience of EMIS Web clinical system and using templates.
• Knowledge of Quality Outcomes Framework and other primary care contractual requirements.
