Job Description
- Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse, providing nursing support and assisting the clinical team in the delivery of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy
- ECG recording
- New patient health checks
- Deliver injections such as B12s and seasonal flu vaccinations under Patient Specific Directives
- INR monitoring of Warfarin patients
- Chaperoning duties
- Processing and managing laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses
- Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Vaccine and cold‑chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Restocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines
- Clearing and restocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well‑being
- Undertaking specific clinical activities delegated to named patients
- Helping to raise awareness of health and well‑being and how it can be promoted
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on health and well‑being needs

- Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2.
- Qualified by experience of >2 years in a similar role working in a healthcare setting.
- Venepuncture experience.
- Competence to deliver direct and intimate personal care.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- IT skills, computer and keyboard literate and committed to maintaining accurate, timely records of consultations.
- Good time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Requirements
- Up‑to‑date vaccination record.
- Desire to innovate across the wider Primary Care Network.
- NVQ Level 3.
- Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children training.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Experience of EMIS Web clinical system and using templates.
- Knowledge of Quality Outcomes Framework and other primary care contractual requirements.
Experience
