Overview

Are you an engaging and assertive Health, Safety & Wellbeing professional with the ability to build relationships at project level? A market‑leading Principal Contractor are looking for you to join a flagship scheme in Northwest Wales as Health & Safety Manager. Due to the nature of the hazards, you will have experience in major civil engineering including tunnelling and heavy M&E. The project is a future‑facing Energy scheme and a chance to be part of creating an important legacy in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the provision of arrangements for competent advice and support, ensuring effective assurance is in place, internal and client requirements are met
  • Driving the behavioural safety culture throughout the business
  • Taking a lead on investigations, providing direction and guidance to investigators in the team and being responsible for approvals and liaison with client
  • Providing challenge and focus on continuous improvements whilst ensuring alignment with HSQE strategy and procedures
  • Managing and mentoring the team and providing support across the business with people and process
  • Taking an active role in developing, maintaining and promoting a positive HSQE culture, promoting ownership within operational teams
Qualifications
  • H&S Diploma-qualified
  • CMIOsh or working towards
  • A capable man manager and confident communicator
  • Experienced in diverse and challenging construction projects, preferably large‑scale M&E utilities, tunnelling or major civil engineering
  • Accomplished at both strategic and operational level
  • Knowledgeable at managing Environmental impact on‑site (highly desirable)

This is a leadership role, therefore a willingness and ability to provide challenge and focus on continuous improvements whilst ensuring alignment with HSQE strategy and procedures is required. They are paying £75‑80,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience) plus accommodation and travel allowance and full package.
