Job description
Overview

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across our warehouse and retail operations. This role is critical in driving compliance, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture across multi-site environments.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Board with clear, actionable insights to drive safety improvements.
  • Lead the warehouse safety champion programme and chair monthly meetings.
  • Deliver compliance reports to warehouse and pharmacy leadership.
  • Shape and support the company\'s Health and Safety strategy.
  • Provide expert H&S guidance across all levels and locations.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Lead investigations into serious incidents and accidents.
  • Conduct site visits and ensure risk assessments and safe working practices are in place.
  • Deliver Fire Marshall and Manual Handling training; support online training content.
  • Liaise with Enforcing Authorities and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Represent the company in legal matters, including court appearances.
  • Manage insurance claims and liaise with insurers.
  • Ensure property compliance and support facilities management on H&S matters.
Qualifications
  • Proven H&S experience in warehousing, logistics, or retail.
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and HSE guidelines.
  • Skilled in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communicator with leadership experience.
  • Familiar with safety management systems and data analysis tools.
  • Able to work with senior leadership in a family business environment.
  • NEBOSH National Diploma (preferred); NEBOSH Certificate (essential).
  • IOSH Chartered Membership (CMIOSH) or working towards.
  • Experience managing multi-site safety operations.
  • Strong planning, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Access to a car and a clean, valid driving licence is essential for visiting pharmacy sites.
