A leading NHS healthcare provider in London is seeking a Health Promotion Outreach Worker to conduct health promotion activities for the bowel cancer screening programme across various London boroughs. The role involves working with health professionals and community organizations to improve screening uptake and raise awareness. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills and have a commitment to reducing health inequalities.
The Health Promotion Outreach Worker conducts health promotion activities for the NHS bowel cancer screening programme across City & Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. The candidate will work to raise awareness, identify and reduce barriers to improve uptake of bowel cancer screening across the participating London Integrated Care Boards (ICBs).
The post holder will work in close relationship with the Health Improvement Specialist to develop and carry out a coordinated programme with Primary Care staff and Community Organisations. The overall aim is to improve uptake and coverage to a minimum national standard. A key role is to raise awareness of the bowel screening programme with Local GPs, public health teams, community groups, councils and the general population in the localities the Bowel Cancer Screening Centre serves.
You will need to be an approachable, flexible and committed individual who enjoys developing creative solutions, as well as being an exceptional communicator with the ability to work positively and collaboratively. A good understanding of the North East London area is desirable.
