Job summary

A leading principal contractor in Basingstoke is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor. This role supports the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to ensure compliance across construction sites. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, preparing risk assessments, and delivering H&S training. The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH Certificate in Construction, strong communication skills, and a knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction required.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards essential.
  • Experience in construction health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections and audits for compliance.

Overview

My client is a leading principal contractor specialising in cladding remediation, delivering multi–million–pound projects across London and the Southeast.

I am looking for a proactive Health and Safety Advisor to support the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager in delivering and monitoring H&S procedures across the business construction sites. This role involves preparing risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans, and supporting policy implementation. You will work closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with H&S standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and H&S compliance checks
  • Prepare and review risk assessments, method statements, and project H&S documentation
  • Support incident investigations and implement preventative measures
  • Deliver H&S training and maintain staff competence
  • Assist with maintaining ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure safe site operations
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction; IOSH preferred
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, Work at Height Regulations, and TG20–21/SG4 NASC standards
  • Experience in construction H&S, including risk assessments and SSIP schemes
  • CSCS card and competent in MS Office
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
