Location: Bristol

Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

About the Role

SEND Inclusion Support are recruiting on behalf of our partner school, a high-quality specialist provision supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking an experienced, motivated Headteacher to lead the school through its next stage of development.

Role Overview

The Headteacher will provide strong leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight, ensuring the school continues to deliver an inclusive, safe, and aspirational environment. We are looking for a leader with proven experience in specialist or alternative education who is committed to improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Guide the overall vision and daily management of the school, maintaining a positive, supportive culture.
  • SEN & SEMH Expertise: Apply robust knowledge of SEN and SEMH to support staff, inform behaviour strategies, and shape personalised learning.
  • Engaged & Visible Leadership: Build strong relationships with staff, pupils, families and external agencies, championing continuous improvement across the school.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Headship or Senior Leadership: Demonstrable success as a Headteacher or in a senior leadership role within a specialist or alternative educational setting.
  • SEND/SEMH Background: Strong experience supporting pupils with SEND or SEMH needs.
  • Specialist Provision Knowledge: Understanding of independent or specialist school environments, with a practical, hands-on leadership style.
