Role Overview
The Head of Luxury Goods will develop, own, and execute a structured business plan for Ava Global Logistics’ expansion into the Luxury Goods, Fine Art & Collectables, and Security Prints sectors. The role involves driving long‑term success in the new market through strategic vision, commercial acumen, and a hands‑on leadership approach to execute the business development strategy effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Sector Strategy & Leadership
- Develop, own, and execute the go‑to‑market strategy for Ava’s entry into the Luxury Goods sector.
- Act as the sector lead, ensuring Ava is fully prepared for market entry across all functions: Operations, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and Technology.
- Work closely with the CEO, Global Business Development Director, and executive team to build a scalable, sustainable business model aligned with Ava’s strategic objectives.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory environments to position Ava as a market leader.
- Operational Readiness & Business Integration
- Work with the Operations team to assess logistics capabilities, secure transport requirements, and infrastructure needs for new sectors.
- Collaborate with Compliance & Risk teams to ensure adherence to industry regulations and risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with Technology & Innovation teams to evaluate and implement sector‑specific solutions, such as digital tracking, blockchain traceability, and secure handling systems.
- Ensure Ava Global is functionally prepared to service new markets by aligning internal processes, technology, and compliance frameworks.
- Business Development & Sales Execution
- Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including galleries, auction houses, jewellers, luxury brands, and institutional clients.
- Develop and execute commercial strategies, including pricing models, service structures, and client acquisition plans.
- Prepare compelling proposals, negotiate contracts, and secure high‑value deals that establish Ava’s presence in the new sectors.
- Drive partnerships and alliances that support business growth and enhance service offerings.
- Partnership & Network Expansion
- Assess existing partner capabilities and leverage them to support entry into new market sectors.
- Identify and onboard new specialist partners, such as secure storage facilities, industry‑specific insurers, and specialist couriers.
- Strengthen relationships with industry associations and regulatory bodies to enhance credibility and market presence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to degree level.
- Relevant sector knowledge in Luxury goods, fine arts.
- Commercial acumen, financial literacy, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and planning skills.
- Ability to lead and achieve results independently and through small, geographically diverse teams.
- 5+ years of business development or commercial experience in an international 3PL, freight forwarding, airline, or secure logistics environment.
- Experience working within supply chains for high‑value, high‑security, or regulated sectors such as precious metals.
- Understanding of technology‑driven logistics solutions, including digital tracking, blockchain, traceability systems.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, motivated by ownership and long‑term value creation.
- Fluent English; a second language highly desirable.
