Role and Responsibilities
- As a Face-to-Face Interpreter, you’ll play a crucial role in enabling communication between people who do not share the same language in settings such as healthcare, legal proceedings, local government, and more.
- Interpreting conversations for individuals accessing public services (e.g. legal, health, and local authority services)
- Ensuring clarity and understanding after each statement or question
- Handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Acting as a liaison between service users and service providers
Common Settings You May Work In
- Hospitals, clinics, and GP surgeries
- Social care and child welfare meetings
- Schools and other educational institutions
- Legal appointments and court sessions
- Housing offices and council departments
- Business and private sector engagements
What We’re Looking For
- Fluency in English and at least one other language
- Hold a DPSI, Community Interpreting qualification, or other interpreting-related qualification
- A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Legal right to work in the UK
