Overview

Associate Trainee Recruitment Consultant – Industry & Commerce (Accountancy Focus)

Central London | Full-time, Permanent | £28,000–£32,000 + Commission + Benefits

About the role

Are you looking for a career that rewards hard work, emotional intelligence, and a natural curiosity about how businesses tick?

Considering recruitment – but want to learn the ropes in a supportive environment, not be thrown in at the deep end?

This could be the perfect launchpad for your career.

Who’s this opportunity for?

We’re working with a well-established, specialist recruitment firm with a fantastic culture and track record. They’re looking for an Associate Trainee Recruitment Consultant to join their Industry & Commerce division — an ideal opportunity for:

  • A recent graduate keen to start their career in a people-focused, commercial role, OR
  • A second jobber (maybe you’ve done sales, customer service, retail, or admin and are ready to build something longer-term)
What’s the job?

You’ll be supporting the recruitment of accountancy and finance professionals into a broad mix of commercial sectors — from eCommerce start-ups to HealthTech scaleups, consumer brands, and not-for-profits.

You don’t need to know anything about accounting right now — full training is provided. What matters most is your mindset, energy, and appetite to learn.

Your day-to-day will include
  • Sourcing and speaking to high-quality candidates
  • Writing engaging and well-crafted job adverts
  • Supporting senior consultants on live roles
  • Helping manage client relationships and understanding hiring needs
  • Learning the full recruitment lifecycle — from first briefing to successful placement

You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team that’s passionate about doing recruitment the right way — with quality, not cut corners.

What’s the culture like?

This isn’t one of those shouty, corporate “sell-sell-sell” environments. It’s supportive, honest, and down-to-earth. Think: smart people who care about what they do — and each other.

The team is known for building long-term, meaningful relationships with both clients and candidates, and they’re looking for someone who shares that approach.

You can also expect:

  • Structured training & one-on-one mentorship
  • A team-based, collaborative culture (no elbows out!)
  • Real career progression – many senior team members started in this role
  • Hybrid working after probation (typically 3 days in-office, 2 from home)
What do you need to bring?
  • A degree, OR 6–18 months’ experience in a commercial role (sales, retail, customer service, office support etc.)
  • Great communication skills – written and verbal
  • A genuine interest in people, business, and how organisations grow
  • Curiosity, resilience, and a proactive attitude

You don’t need any recruitment experience — just the right mindset and motivation to build a career.

If you’re excited by the idea of helping businesses find great people — and helping candidates find roles they love — this could be the start of something great.
