Overview

Our client is one of the largest multidisciplinary partnerships in the UK providing engineering and design consultancy services with innovative, cost-effective and sustainable solutions for challenging environments.

Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer / Geologist preferably 1 year + experience in SI/GI

We are seeking a Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer / Geologist to join the Newcastle Office. You will have be able to demonstrate some experience in the areas of geo-environmental site investigation and assessment, remediation and validation, earthworks, contract management and planning and regulatory liaison. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to work in one of the UK's leading Civil, Structural & Geotechnical Engineering Consultancy's, working with governments, businesses, rail, architects and planners, providing integrated solutions across many disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their technical and project management skills, including providing robust technical assessment and solutions, customer service and business development as part of a growing team.
  • The candidate would preferably have experience in a range of sectors, including road and rail, residential, industrial / commercial and leisure developments, providing robust, technically sound and cost-effective solutions to Clients throughout.
  • The candidate will be required to write Preliminary Risk Assessments and Intrusive Ground investigations reports, as part of this they will need to develop an understanding of currently available ground investigation, sampling and laboratory analysis techniques.
  • The candidate will be required to build an understanding of contaminated land legislation and the planning regime, to provide geo-environmental ground investigation scoping and generic risk assessment advice, as well as developing an understanding of geology, ground models and geotechnical engineering.
  • The candidate will be required to develop the ability to deliver projects and work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy, with awareness of structural & civil capabilities in the wider firm.
  • The candidate would be expected to be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, as well as be a good communicator, both verbal and written, have strong team working / interpersonal skills and a basic commercial awareness.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineer, Geology/Earth Sciences or related subject.
  • It is preferable that the successful candidate have some experience in various sectors including road and rail, residential, industrial / commercial, and leisure developments.
  • An understanding of, or ability to write Preliminary Risk Assessments and Intrusive Ground Investigation reports.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Full Driving Licence
