Overview

About the Team: Based within Careers and Employability, the Early Career Graduate team works with recent graduates to help them improve their future employability and career prospects. Through our work we enable and empower graduates to reach the next stage in their career journey, no matter what point in their career cycle they are at. We also work with employers in the Greater Manchester area to help these organisations to recruit our recent graduates. Our work feeds into key strategic areas and is a chance to positively influence University wide graduate destination outcomes and data.

Role Overview

About the Role: As part of the Early Career Graduate team, this is a key role in maximising the early career outcomes of our graduates. You will act as the first point of contact for graduates from a wide variety of degree backgrounds who are seeking careers and employability support after university. Using your knowledge and experience in career coaching, you will enable our graduates to achieve their full potential, motivating and empowering these individuals to explore their possible employment or further study options. This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week. The role offers hybrid working and is split between home and office working. Our office location is based at 6 Great Marlborough Street building in the centre of Manchester. Postcode M1 5AL. Easily commutable by public transport and located 200 yards from Oxford Road train station.

  • Use coaching experience to enable graduates to achieve their full potential and explore employment or further study options.
  • Deliver one-to-one career appointments and group sessions, supported by strong active listening and communication skills.
  • Support graduates with researching their options and navigating the labour market through strong digital literacy skills.
  • Work within a small team to meet the needs of graduates and deliver university and regional projects.

  • Proactive and enthusiastic with the ability to work effectively in a small team.
  • Positive and professional attitude to help the team meet graduate needs and deliver projects.
  • Excellent active listening and communication skills for one-to-one appointments and group sessions.
  • Strong digital literacy skills to support graduates in researching options and labour market navigation.
