Job description

Start date: January 2026

We are excited to invite applications for a sport graduate assistant to help with the delivery of our outstanding Games and PE provision from January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to gain early career experience in one of the UK’s leading sporting schools, and within a warm and dynamic school community.

The post is suited to candidates with the ability to extend, challenge and develop our most able performers, and who possess the ability to inspire and nurture a love for sport in every pupil in the school.

All successful candidates will be expected to make a significant contribution to both the delivery of PE and the coaching of sports teams. They should have significant expertise in at least one of our core sports (rugby, netball, hockey, rowing, football, cricket and tennis). An interest in athletic development and/or one or more of our non-core sports – such as badminton, basketball, golf, squash, swimming, table tennis and water polo – is also advantageous, as is the ability and willingness to take the lead on delivering a programme of training and fixtures for one of these sports.

This is a full-time position, initially on a fixed-term basis for two terms, with a possibility of extension.

Person Specification
  • The post will suit someone who has:
  • A genuine interest in leading and supporting Games and PE provision
  • An eagerness to inspire and support all pupils to flourish and reach their sporting potential
  • Expertise in at least one core sport (rugby, netball, hockey, rowing, football, cricket and tennis)
  • A desire to enrich the sporting experience of pupils during the school day, at weekends and during school holidays
  • Strong pastoral instincts and a commitment to excellent pastoral care and safeguarding for all pupils
  • A desire to contribute to the school’s thriving cocurricular programme
  • An ability to work well with others
  • A personal commitment to ongoing professional development

The following would be advantageous:

  • Prior experience of working in a secondary school environment or with secondary age pupils
  • An interest in athletic development and/or one or more of our non-core sports – such as badminton, basketball, golf, squash, swimming, table tennis and water polo, and the ability and willingness to take the lead on delivering a programme of training and fixtures for one of these sports.

King’s is one of the most successful schools in the world, with outstanding academic results, first-class pastoral care and a vibrant cocurriculum. Overlooking Wimbledon Common, the school is situated in one of the most attractive parts of south east England and benefits from exceptional grounds and facilities.
