Job description
Role Overview

As a GIS Analyst, you’ll play a key role in turning complex operational data into clear, actionable insight that directly impacts the performance of Thames Water’s Waste Water Regional Delivery teams. This is a highly analytical role where you’ll help shape decisions on asset performance, operational optimisation, and risk management. The internal title of the role is Performance and Risk Analyst.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with delivery teams and other stakeholders across the company, sharing performance and risk insights to aid the delivery of asset health performance commitments.
  • Maintain and deploy operational performance reports and regulatory reporting, delivering accurate and trusted reports and insights with appropriate commentary.
  • Undertake performance and behavioural analysis on waste network assets, interpreting asset and operational data to identify trends and risk insights, and disseminate findings with appropriate visualisations and commentary.
  • Develop and maintain geospatial asset risk models to create planned intervention work packs for operational delivery teams, actively tracking the delivery and benefits of interventions against planned outcomes.
  • Maintain existing data management processes, monitor key data quality metrics and proactively liaise with company-wide functional experts and data engineers to resolve any process failures or data quality issues.
Location & Hours

Base Location: Clearwater Court, Reading – hybrid (minimum of 1 day in the office, usually Fridays). Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

Qualifications
  • Strong geospatial analytical background, including experience with ESRI ArcGIS, Power BI, FME, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of wastewater industry and capability in additional geospatial tools, analytical tools and data management (e.g. Python, SQL, Databricks, Azure Data Factory) will be beneficial.
  • Proven ability to produce detailed management reports.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to understand the wider business context.
  • Strong communication skills and a self-driven approach to work.
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Office and relevant industry-specific tools.

  • Competitive salary from £45,940 – £49,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
