About The Role

Compensation: $16-18 per hour, based on experience.

The General Service Technician is a blended role with both front and back shop responsibilities, including at least two days per week dedicated to front counter duties. This position performs routine vehicle repairs and maintenance per company standards and manufacturer specifications, and communicates vehicle issues and solutions to guests. As a key holder and manager on duty (MOD) when needed, the General Service Technician helps provide a superior guest experience, drives sales of automotive services and tires, and maintains a welcoming in-store atmosphere.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately perform basic vehicle services and repairs per Monro standards.
  • Tire Services: wheel removal, balancing, patch/plug repairs, changing, mounting, installation and TPMS service and repair.
  • Vehicle Services: lubrications, oil changes, basic maintenance (bulbs, wiper blades, filters, etc.), battery testing and installations.
  • Consistently complete Monro’s Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle, identifying and communicating additional needed services.
  • Assist in inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking inventory.
  • Assist with all general store duties, ensuring cleanliness and guest-ready condition per Monro standards.
  • Adhere to safety standards including wheel torque, oil safety, and other procedures.
  • Conduct test drives following Monro’s Road Test policy and local traffic/safety laws.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures, governmental standards (including environmental codes and ANSI/OSHA standards).
  • Maintain technical knowledge through Monro University training and operate equipment safely (lifts, welders, brake lathes, etc.).
  • Under management direction, assist with guest care, work orders, register assistance, facility maintenance, and outside purchase ordering.
  • Assist in opening/closing responsibilities as a secondary key carrier; communicate all Monro products and services to guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Automotive training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current valid driver’s license and a satisfactory MVR; ability to operate customer vehicles for test drives.
  • Own a basic set of tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This job operates in an automotive shop environment with typical noise, exposure to chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. Candidates must be able to:

  • Work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • See and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Stand and walk for long periods; reach overhead and below the knees; squat, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist.
