The Role: General Manager – UK

We are seeking a driven, entrepreneurial General Manager to lead and grow our business operations in the UK. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for operational performance, financial outcomes, team management, and strategic growth. You’ll oversee a multi-site operation, drive service excellence, and shape the future of Unicorn in one of our most important markets.

Location: London (base for UK operations) with regular travel to partner hotels across the country

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all business operations across Unicorn’s hotel partnerships in the UK
  • Build, scale, and manage high-performing service and housekeeping teams
  • Own P&L responsibilities: budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost controls
  • Ensure operational excellence through structured processes, audits, and service innovation
  • Drive long-term partnerships with hotel clients through performance, communication, and trust
  • Recruit and develop team leads and frontline staff, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Collaborate closely with HQ to align on strategy, growth initiatives, and digital solutions
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities to expand Unicorn’s presence in the UK
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment law, health & safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Champion our culture of flexibility, transparency, and guest-first thinking
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong track record in hotel operations, ideally with a background in housekeeping & front desk
  • Proven leadership experience in managing multi-site teams and full business units
  • Solid financial acumen — comfortable owning budgets, forecasts, and reporting
  • Business-minded and comfortable with client engagement and sales
  • Digital mindset: experience with tech-driven operations, reporting tools, and automation
  • Strategic thinker who can also execute hands-on and lead by example
  • Good knowledge of UK labour law and employment practices, including compliance and HR frameworks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-first mentality
  • Fluent in English (required)
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Based in London or the South East, with willingness to travel nationwide
