Job Summary

Band 2 General Imaging Assistant (full‑time or part‑time) in the Imaging department. This role requires travel to community diagnostic centres and mobile scanner sites across the region, including Whitworth (Matlock) and Walton. Working hours are from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm, with varying shift patterns covering weekends and bank holidays on a rota.

Main Duties
  • Assist the Imaging Team in caring for patients by helping with dressing, providing reassurance during examinations, and assisting with discharge information.
  • Use computer systems to register, book patients and perform general reception work.
  • Escort patients to and from wards and the Emergency Department, and chaperone during examinations when required.
  • Assist with image processing and post‑examination documentation.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe department, ensuring rooms are stocked with linen and other equipment.
  • Support the Trust’s Prevention and Control of Infection policies and procedures.
  • Remain aware of the Clinical Governance agenda and support research and audit activities.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to local infection control policies.
  • Actively participate in the Staff Development Process Review.
  • Encourage, mentor and train all team members within the General Imaging Assistant (GIA) and Clinical Imaging Assistant (CIA) teams.
  • Participate in stock control and all audit and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist the Radiographic Team in patient care by completing imaging safety questionnaires, assessing suitability for cannulation, and promptly reporting potential problems with cannulae, patient allergies or ECG issues.
  • Assist patients with discharge information and monitor patients before and after imaging procedures.
Qualifications & Training

Essential: GCSE A‑C Grade in English (or equivalent).

Desirable: Previous relevant experience; QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care; GCSE Maths (A‑C Grade).

Experience

Essential: Experience in an environment involving contact with people.

Desirable: Previous experience in a healthcare environment.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential: Well‑developed social skills, good organisational skills, awareness of confidentiality issues, ability to work as part of a team, and personal initiative.

Desirable: Willingness to acquire new skills, basic computer skills, knowledge of the CRIS system.

Personal Attributes
