About this Role

British International Investment (BII) has established itself as a key institution in the realm of development finance, committed to gender and diversity finance within the Impact Group. The Gender and Diversity Finance Executive will play a crucial role in driving the organisation's gender and diversity objectives, specifically through the Black Ownership & Leadership for Development (BOLD) approach. As part of the G&DF Team, this role involves contributing to the execution of BII's strategies in diversity finance, with strong coordination across multiple teams. With a focus on advancing BOLD ambitions, the position requires interaction with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance diversity in investment transactions and business leadership. Responsibilities include overseeing BOLD eligibility assessments and supporting the roll-out of key products and training. The ideal candidate will also provide insights during investment proposals and contribute to mainstreaming inclusion internally.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the execution of BII's G&D Finance Strategy across systems and governance.
  • Conduct assessments for gender and diversity finance using established criteria and frameworks.
  • Engage with investees to influence their approach to gender and diversity.
  • Oversee BOLD eligibility assessments and support G&DF Team as needed.
  • Coordinate internally for BII's BOLD ambitions and produce updates for the Inclusion Steering Group.
  • Collaborate on strategy and origination development for increasing BOLD deals.
  • Refine BOLD framework and training offerings for internal audiences.
  • Undertake ongoing analysis and research to track progress of BOLD initiatives.
  • Develop strategies for communicating BOLD uptake outside of BII.
Requirements
  • Practical experience driving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) within an investment setting.
  • In-house experience in impact investing, development finance, or private equity.
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing transaction flows with a specific strategy focus.
  • Experience in direct transaction support and capacity building.
  • Familiarity with various investment products and sectors.
  • Extensive experience working in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Ability to address sensitive topics with emotional intelligence and sensitivity.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications.
