Gastroenterology Registrar – St Mark’s Hospital

London North West Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Gastroenterology Registrar to join a team of Gastroenterologists based at St Mark’s Hospital.

The endoscopy unit performs approximately 5,000 GI endoscopies per year and sees about 2,000 new patients annually. It is currently pursuing JAG accreditation as part of the Trust-wide endoscopy strategy.

About the role

This full‑time post is designed for a registrar who seeks a challenge in providing excellent gastroenterology and hepatology inpatient care, delivering an outpatient service, and developing skills in endoscopy.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct two outpatient clinics per week.
  • Carry out ward rounds with consultant supervision.
  • Perform one training endoscopy list per week.
  • Support the acute gastroenterology service, working alongside two other deanery‑appointed registrars.
  • Assist with general internal medicine tasks as required.
  • Supported by a team of 2 SHOs and 3 FY1 doctors.
Training & Development

The post holder will be allocated an educational supervisor. Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the service, but appropriate training can be provided in hepatology, nutrition, endoscopy, etc. Research opportunities are available and actively encouraged.

Suitable for UK and overseas doctors seeking training and clinical experience. This is a service post ideal for doctors who need more gastrointestinal and general internal medicine experience before applying for a training or research position.
