Overview

Are you ready to use your skills to make a difference? Digital Forensic Services are vital to helping our officers to combat crime, protect the vulnerable, enable safer communities, and make a difference that really matters. Thames Valley Police is transforming its Forensic Investigation Unit, with a multi-year investment to create a forward looking, accredited service delivering proportionate timely services that support effective crime investigation for TVP and other external organisations. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Portfolio of the Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as 1 x Frontline Digital Technician, based at Slough Police Station. Reporting to a Digital Forensic Frontline Team Leader and Operational Supervisor you will ensure that early examination of exhibits occurs to determine the best course of action in any case using a comprehensive triage process to identify those exhibits suitable for further analysis. This can involve material or images of a distressing nature.

You must have capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake all assignments in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Practical experience and knowledge of computer hardware and software or a digital forensic degree
  • Experience of managing priorities against high demands
  • Experience in digital forensics / forensic capacity or a digital forensic degree
  • Good communication skills and a “can do attitude”
  • Collaborative approach to working with others across the forensic portfolio
  • Full UK Manual Driving licence
  • Ability to engage with ISO accreditation requirements

Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working, public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. A full UK driving licence is considered essential. An enhanced level of vetting will be required for this role, as with all posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments.
