A major UK airport is seeking a Fire Safety Manager to lead the compliance with fire safety legislation and oversee fire prevention measures. The role involves close cooperation with operational teams and implementing a Fire Safety Management System. Ideal candidates should possess a Level 4 diploma in fire safety and have substantial experience in a complex environment. We're looking for a Fire Safety Manager to join us on this exciting journey.
As the Fire Safety Manager, reporting into the Chief Fire Officer you will ensure compliance with fire safety legislation, emergency preparedness, resilience, and response across the airport in relation to fire safety and fire strategies. Your primary responsibility will be to manage, coordinate, and implement robust fire prevention measures, including fire safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and emergency planning and coordination of fire strategies.
You will work closely with multiple stakeholders, including the Bristol Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (RFFS) Fire Safety Team, operational teams, development, and third-party providers, to ensure best practices in fire safety management. You will also manage the implementation of a Fire Safety Management System in accordance with relevant legal regulations.
We're looking for a candidate with qualifications in fire safety or fire safety engineering, and experience in using safety management systems with a solution‑focused approach to problem‑solving.
We require demonstrable experience in fire safety and engineering within a complex environment, and in the use of safety management systems.
Applicants should hold at least a Level 4 diploma in fire safety and have a sound understanding of auditing techniques and procedures.
Excellent communication skills, confidence working with multiple stakeholders, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues are essential. Attention to detail and resilience in embedding change are also required.
Whilst not essential, experience of emergency planning and crisis management, and knowledge of Airport Security regulations and contract law, is desirable. (Disability Confident)
