The company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join their team on an interim basis for 15 months to cover maternity leave. This is a pivotal role within the Telco division, offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing high-quality financial information, ensuring balance sheet control, and driving continuous improvement across financial processes.

Skills/experience required:

  • Qualified accountant or qualified by experience with a deep understanding of double entry accounting.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop finance teams, including direct line management of staff.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior managers and directors.
  • Process-driven individual with a focus on controls and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of PowerBI is advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous experience with Access Dimensions software is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and handle imperfect information effectively.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the production and development of management reporting for the Telco division, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and review processes.
  • Conduct month-end close meetings and present financial performance to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with the business planning function to produce annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Maintain and enhance the control environment, ensuring best practices in revenue completeness, cost control, and reconciliations.
  • Support cash flow management by contributing to weekly cash flow reviews and identifying operational impacts.
  • Partner with various business units, including Billing, Cyber Security, and Marketing, to ensure financial alignment.
  • Provide support for system implementations to standardise operations and financial systems across the division.
  • Assist with the annual audit process and address all tax-related queries, including VAT and corporate tax.
  • Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
