Qualifications

Overview

Financial Accountant | £45,000-£46500 | Children's Charity | Maternity Cover (up to 12 months FTC) | Hybrid - Bristol

This is an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant with Charities SORP experience to join a leading children's cancer charity on a maternity cover contract. You will play a key role in supporting the finance function at a time of change, as the organisation implements Microsoft Business Central.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting month-end processing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial information
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with charity VAT legislation and optimising recovery
  • Managing day-to-day cash flow in line with treasury policy and making recommendations for investment
  • Assisting with statutory accounts preparation, managing audit queries, and supporting staff across the organisation with audit readiness
  • Acting as systems administrator for finance systems (SUN, iPOS, JET and Business Central), managing access, training users, and liaising with providers
Person Specification
  • Qualified Accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with at least 12 months PQE and current membership of a professional body
  • Strong technical knowledge, including charity VAT and statutory accounts preparation
  • Must have experience of charity accounting (whether from practice or industry)
  • Significant month-end experience (bank, accruals, prepayments, control accounts, reconciliations)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues
  • Analytical, methodical and detail-focused, with proven ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of Business Central is desirable but not essential
