Financial Accountant | £45,000-£46500 | Children's Charity | Maternity Cover (up to 12 months FTC) | Hybrid - Bristol
This is an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant with Charities SORP experience to join a leading children's cancer charity on a maternity cover contract. You will play a key role in supporting the finance function at a time of change, as the organisation implements Microsoft Business Central.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting month-end processing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with charity VAT legislation and optimising recovery
- Managing day-to-day cash flow in line with treasury policy and making recommendations for investment
- Assisting with statutory accounts preparation, managing audit queries, and supporting staff across the organisation with audit readiness
- Acting as systems administrator for finance systems (SUN, iPOS, JET and Business Central), managing access, training users, and liaising with providers
Person Specification
- Qualified Accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with at least 12 months PQE and current membership of a professional body
- Strong technical knowledge, including charity VAT and statutory accounts preparation
- Must have experience of charity accounting (whether from practice or industry)
- Significant month-end experience (bank, accruals, prepayments, control accounts, reconciliations)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues
- Analytical, methodical and detail-focused, with proven ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Experience of Business Central is desirable but not essential
